Indiana Wrestling Boosters -

Flonationals 2014 at Indiana’s KCAC April 4th – 6th

The FLO Wrestling organization is once again bringing their national championship “Flonationals” to Indiana, PA!  This is the TOP CROP of High School and Elementary Wrestling in the country coming to our town for a weekend-long hard hitting all-out battle for national title!

You can sign your wrestler up to compete, or just buy a ticket to come and watch the action HERE on the FLO website.

Indiana Wrestling Booster members and supporters: WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP!  Volunteer to work at a scoring table, run a video camera, or collect admissions at the door for this, our number one (and only) major fundraiser of the year! It’s not too late! (And yes, we need everyone to help!)  Contact Heather Marcozi (click) to sign up!  On top of supporting our organization, all volunteers get to see all the action up close, from the front row!

New Rule This Year: PIAA Requires Skin Lesion Release Form

We found out the hard way that the Refs no longer accept a regular doctor’s note for a benign skin lesion (non-contagious rash or blemish.)  This is a new rule this year, and they are enforcing it strictly.  If your wrestler has a visible rash or lesion, you need to have this very specific form (click) filled out and signed by a doctor within 7 days of participating in a wrestling event.

Our personal feelings aside, those are the facts.  I’m putting a link in the shortcuts section to this document as well.

Tournament Schedule

It’s that time again! Wrestling Tournament Season!

We have posted a list of tournaments (click) that we will be going to this year.   New wrestlers should start with the Keystones and Novice tournaments.   More experienced wrestlers who would like a more challenging experience should check out the Open tournaments.  (‘Top 100 Opens’ are labelled in the document as such, and the tournament operators claim that this means they’re really tough!)

We plan to have coaches at these tournaments, but if you plan to go, PLEASE check with your coaches to make sure!  Some weekends there are multiple tournaments on the same day, and we’d like to make sure we cover the ones that our people are actually going to.  It’s ok for you to go to other tournaments not on this list, if you don’t mind a coach not being there.

Most of these tournaments have online registration forms (linked inside the document) and they are all listed on

Please ask your coaches if you have any questions!

** Group B & C – Tuesday Practice Changes **

Starting on Tuesday, November 26th:

Group B Tuesday practice schedule is being changed to be from 6:00pm – 7:30pm.

Group C will still be from 6:45 – 8:15 in the main Gym. (rolling out 1 mat.)

On Tuesdays, we have been trying to combine practices for Groups B and C in the large gym at the Junior High. Our primary goal in setting this up has been to give some wrestlers a more diverse experience with a larger group of wrestling partners. While there have been a few able to take advantage of this, it hasn’t worked out as well as we had thought it might. We have discovered that setting up and tearing down both mats is a very time consuming process and it is not only detracting from our practice experience but it is causing a lot of people to have to stick around late on a school night.

As a result we are going to adjust the process to make things simpler (using just one mat in the gym), but still leave some opportunity for ‘cross group’ wrestling.

On Tuesdays, group B practice will start at 6:00pm in the Junior High Wrestling room. Group C practice will begin at6:45 in the main Gym. (Group C guys will be rolling the mat out.) Group B wrestlers will then move to the gym for live wrestling, and group C will take over in the wrestling room. Any group B wrestlers who want to get some extra practice in are free to stay for part or all of the group C practice.

Group B (we will need 1 or 2 dads to stick around and help,) will be responsible for rolling the mat in the gym back up at 7:30. This means that no one group (and especially not both groups) will be eating up a substantial amount of time rolling out/up mats.

We apologize for the confusion caused by the change in schedule, but we feel this is a better way for us to have more focused practices, and still give anyone who wants to wrestle with guys from the other group a chance to do so.

Any questions can be directed to Brian Petras or Dave Dolan.   Thank you.

Keystone Schedule is now on the Elementary Calendar

The Elementary Calendar now has the official Keystone Tournament Schedule.  All of the Keystone tournament dates that appear on the calendar will have Indiana Coaches there.  If you plan on attending the Keystone Championship at the end of the season, your wrestler will need attend at least 4 Keystone ‘regular’ tournaments before then.

We have been hearing that some people have been having trouble finding the calendar: There is a link at the top of this page. Click on “Elementary” and then select “Calendar.”

2013-2014 Email Lists Being Updated

The Indiana Wrestling boosters, in order to stay in close contact with our wrestling members and families, maintains a set of automated email lists, referred to as the ‘listserv.’  What this means is there is a single email address that will deliver a message to all of the list’s members.  We have one for each the Elementary Wrestling families, Junior High Wrestlers and families, and another for the High School wrestlers.  (At this time, we’re choosing not to publish the addresses of the lists on the website.)

In order to be able to send a message to these lists, you must have the email address FROM which you are sending it registered as a member. If you would like to be removed, add an additional email address, or have any questions regarding your membership on this list, please email Dave Dolan directly, (Please don’t send a ‘remove me’ message to the entire list.)

Elementary wrestling families will be receiving a welcome email from the wrestling listserv this week.
